5 Simple ways to have a productive week.

Having a productive week isn't solely about getting more things done, it's more about doing what's important efficiently while having a healthy work life balance.

Realistically, having a productive week starts from having a productive Monday. We all love to hate Monday but if we can tackle Monday and defeat wednesday, the week is half way to victorious.

The 5 simple ways to have a productive week are;

Plan your week on Saturday not Sunday

It has been said time and time again to plan the week on Sunday; but don't you think making the plan on Saturday suits better? example, If you do your meal plan on Sunday when do you then go shopping and do the meal prep?

Another point to consider is that we need to rest, sunday should be a rest day, rest from the previous week in preparation for the week ahead.

So my advice is; do as much as you can on Saturday so you can have a full day of rest and quite reflection on sunday.

Set attainable goals for everyday of the week

Goal setting is a very useful tool but it can also be the beginning of a physically and emotionally draining week. Setting attainable and realistic daily goals is more fulfilling and worthwhile. Example, instead of a beginner planning for daily 5am 10km jog in the cold winter morning; start small and be realistic instead and say 10mins cardio at home 3 times a week and build up from there.

You will find that achieving the goal of 10 mins cardio 3 times a week will make you feel good about yourself and encourage you to continue to incorporate exercise into your daily routine.

Make Sunday your rest day and stick to it

It is a pity that we live in a world where rest is a luxury not a necessity. We underestimate the power of resting and slowing down our very busy lives. Lack of rest is one of the most common causes of burnout, exhausting week, unhappiness, crankiness and bad behaviour in adulthood.

Resting is calming, destressing and rejuvenating; it's very beneficial for your physical, and mental well-being.

Live by a schedule

Living by a schedule might sound rigid and boring but it's not if your schedule is appropriate and clear. A well defined schedule is one of the many ways to tackle procrastination and multitasking. It's a known fact that multitasking does not lead to productivity but instead it leads to uncompleted task or half arsed work.

An example of living by a schedule is intentionally allocating a specific time of the day to certain task like exercising for 30 mins a day at 6am to 6:30am.

The only time multitasking could come into play is listening to music and doing house chores or going on social media for 30 mins while you eat ( that is if you live or eat alone)

Incorporate healthy routines into your daily schedule.

Starting your day on a postive note is one of the most healthy routines you can put in your daily schedule, that's why there are several talks and books on the power of a positive mindset. A postive mindset can give you the power to stay focused on your goal even when things don't go your way.

It has been tried and tested, what you think about or say to yourself first thing in the morning has the power to set the tone for the rest of your day. If you are religious, having a quite time with God first thing in the morning goes a long way and if you are not religious, reciting a daily mantra goes a long way.
